Fibre connectivity
Dark fibre
FibreSpeed network is a brand new fibre optic network, with all fibre on our core and business park fibre networks installed since 2008. The dark fibre service across our network utilises fibre to the ITU.G.652 specification. Fibre pairs are available across the entire network (subject to available capacity and technical feasibility.)
Key features
- Customer dedicated, unlit fibre pairs over the core network.
- Service available across the entire network from Manchester to Caernarfon (including Holyhead), including Business Park access networks.
- Flat rate pricing over 100kms in Wales, fixed access cost from Manchester to Wales.
- Break-outs enabled at recognised break-out points along the network.
- Services not necessarily restricted to the identified Business Park Points of Presence (PoP), but subject to technical feasibility and survey.
- Fibre leases to span at least 2 of the official PoPs, although shorter distances may be considered dependent on solution.
- Robust SLAs ensure availability and quality of service with 24/7 helpline support and fault restoration.
- High standard build and record-keeping reducing likelihood of in-life fibre cut issues.
- Fibre can be extended to end user delivery point, where feasible at bespoke pricing.
Fibre Wavelengths
10 Gbps Wavelengths
10Gbit/s wavelengths will be available between any two points on the Network including access circuits over extended fibre within the nominated Business Parks, including the netwokr gateway at Manchester within IFL2 providing an end-to-end managed wavelength.
Resilient solutions may be available but will be priced on a case-by-case basis.
Key Features
- Dedicated DWDM wavelength for use as a private circuit.
- Non-resilient wavelength, resilient options exist as bespoke solution.
- Single mode fibre network SFP based network interface.
- 10Gbit/s wavelength connection to device with standard optical interfaces of 1310nm or 1550nm.
- Remote end to end circuit management via DCN connection back to the FibreSpeed NOC.
