Virtual Private Networks

IPVPNs are capable of carrying all IP traffic and the resulting network is secure, flexible and scalable. IPVPNs can be provided over a backbone network using sophisticated protocols such as Multi Protocol Labelled Switching (MPLS).

IPVPN has emerged as the multisite data network of choice, incorporating a plethora of access methods (Ethernet, leased line, ADSL, SDSL, dial ports, ISDN) to suit a customer’s requirements and budget. The vast majority of WAN development has concentrated on this area delivering a range of convergent products and services which help customers leverage their investment and create greater business flexibility and simplicity.

Services such as data centre co-location, internet breakout, voice breakout/in, managed firewalls have all become established where as ASP services such as CRM and IP centrex are forming the next wave of innovation.

By default all customer routes are kept completely isolated resulting in enhanced security. An additional feature is that Class of Service can easily be integrated in the MPLS based VPN. For example customers can send voice, video and multiple classes of data traffic over the one network.
